Doreen Makerenko Memorial Bursary
Established in memory of Doreen Makarenko, this bursary supports local students continuing their post-secondary education in a health-care related field.
The bursary is available to students graduating from a Peace Country area high school in the current academic year, or to current post-secondary students continuing their studies. Applicants must be enrolled full-time in a health-care related program at an educational institution in Alberta.
Eligibility
Applicants must complete the Doreen Makarenko Memorial Bursary application and provide 2 references. The recipient is selected by the designated person/family.

Fairview Health Complex Foundation Scholarship
This $1,000 scholarship supports local students entering their first year of post-secondary studies in a health-care field.
Available to students who graduated from Fairview High School, St. Thomas More School, Hines Creek Composite School, or Worsley High School and are entering their first year of studies in any field of health care.
Eligibility
Complete the general scholarship and bursary application. No references are required. Include information about your interest in health care, community involvement, and financial need.

Alice Caspar Bursary
This $500 bursary supports local students pursuing nursing studies at the post-secondary level.
Available to students from St. Thomas More School, Fairview High School, Hines Creek Composite School, or Worsley High School who are enrolled in any year of a recognized nursing program.
Eligibility
Complete the general scholarship and bursary application. No references are required. Include a short personal statement about your nursing goals, community involvement, and financial need.

Doug & Jean Snider Educational Grant
This educational grant supports Fairview-area Health Shared Services (HSS) staff pursuing training or education that will improve patient care.
Applicants must:
Be employed by HSS in the Fairview region
Have worked in the Fairview region for a minimum of 2 years
Work at least a 0.4 position or 700 hours per year
Use the funding for educational purposes
Pursue a course or training opportunity that will enhance their ability to provide better patient care
Up to $10,000 may be awarded per calendar year, with a maximum of $3,000 per individual.
Course tuition and other legitimate course-related costs may be considered.
Eligibility
Applicants must complete the Doug & Jean Snider Educational Grant Application.
Applicants should also provide a brief explanation of how the course or program will benefit them and, in turn, improve care for their patients.

Hawkview Ag Ltd. Bursaries
Hawkview Ag Ltd., a local agricultural supply company that helps “grow” our community in many ways, is pleased to sponsor two $500 bursaries.
Available to students from St. Thomas More School, Fairview High School, Hines Creek Composite School, or Worsley High School who are enrolled in any year or level of a recognized nursing or medical program.

Sam Memorial Nursing Scholarship
Created in honour of Samantha, this scholarship provides up to $5,000 annually to support fourth-year nursing students who share her commitment to improving rural health care in Alberta.
The scholarship is available to fourth-year students currently enrolled in a recognized nursing program.
To be considered, applicants must intend to pursue rural nursing in Alberta upon graduation.
Applicants should demonstrate their passion for rural healthcare and their commitment to serving rural communities.
Eligibility
Applicants must complete the Sam Memorial Nursing Scholarship Application.
The application includes questions about:
Why you chose nursing.
What area of nursing interests you.
Your connection to rural Alberta.
Applicants must also provide two references and academic transcripts as supporting documentation.
