Doreen Makarenko Memorial Bursary
This bursary is named in memory of Doreen Makarenko. Doreen graduated from the University of Alberta, Faculty of Nursing in 1957. She enjoyed a long nursing career at the Fairview Hospital, the Fairview Nursing Home, and later as a Home Care nurse.
Doreen was a proud and active member of the Fairview community and was involved in many community groups and projects. She valued education and encouraged others to pursue their post-secondary studies. This bursary was established to support local students continuing their education in a health-care related field.
Eligibility Criteria
The bursary is available to students graduating from a Peace Country area high school in the current academic year, or to current post-secondary students continuing their studies.
Applicants must be enrolled full-time in a health-care related program at an educational institution in Alberta.
Application Requirements
Applicants must complete the Doreen Makarenko Memorial Bursary application and provide 2 references.
The recipient is selected by the designated person/family.
