Cheering On Our Future Health Care Heroes
We’re proud to recognize Avery Gnam as a recipient of the Doreen Makarenko Memorial Scholarship, the Fairview Health Complex Foundation Scholarship, and the Pauline Landry Bursary, awards that support local students as they begin their journey in health care.
A lifelong Fairview resident and graduate of St. Thomas More Catholic School, Avery discovered her passion for helping and healing others through her work as a Resident Service Assistant at the Homesteader Lodge in Hines Creek. This experience inspired her to pursue nursing, and she will begin the Practical Nursing Program at NorQuest College in Winter 2026.
The Doreen Makarenko Memorial Scholarship honours a lifelong nurse and community champion who believed deeply in supporting local students in health care, while the Fairview Health Complex Foundation Scholarship and Pauline Landry Bursary reflect a shared commitment to education, community, and compassionate care.
These awards recognize Avery’s dedication to learning and her desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. We can’t wait to see the impact she’ll make!
Congratulations on this well-deserved achievement!
